Timothy Award

Last night we went to Lane's awards program. The children performed impressive amounts of scripture and songs they had learned through out the year. It was enjoyable time. Then came the awards. Lane did wonderfully receiving top grade certificates in Math, Spelling, Grammar, and Science. We were so proud of him. Then came the awarding of the Timothy medal. This award is the highest that the school gives and it is not based on anything but character. It is based on the scripture of 1 Timothy 4:12 "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." It is quite simply a character award and the most highly prized at the school. I am honored to say the our son received that award for the first grade. It is an awesome thing to realize that the hard work you are putting into your children to teach them about having Christ centered values can be seen and appreciated by others. Needless to say, I was so proud and in tears when Lane's name was called. I could feel my daddy saying from heaven keep up the hard work, baby girl. See it is so worth it!

CHEESE, Please?

Last night we got all dressed up for Lane's awards ceremony. The kids looked so nice and I decided we need to take pictures of them in this rare form. My children are usually barefoot with a days worth of dirt on them by the time we get to the evening. So, I shuttle them outside to the backyard for our photo session; of course, as I let them outside they are running straight to the swing set. I am yelling you are not getting dirty come over here so I can get a picture with you clean. Now they are sullen and mad because they wanted to play (it's not as if they hadn't played all day...my bathtub has an inch of dirt from their baths 30min earlier). So my husband trying to be helpful so I can get a good picture begins making faces behind me. Those of you who have children know how hard it is to get a child to look at you and smile and once you add more children the odds of getting them all to look and smile are astronomical. Now add one goofy faced husband and well you can the see the results. No, I did not get the perfect shot...I got three!

Last Day of School

Kiki loves cotton candy...Landon prefers a snow cone

Landon and Mrs. Owens

Daddy and Landon

waiting on the bouncer....
This was Landon's last day of preschool. His school gives a huge fun day for the whole school. It's really neat because there is lots of activities and food for the kids. The teachers work the booths so that parents are free to enjoy the day with their kids. The other wonderful thing is that siblings are welcome to come so it becomes fun for the whole family. Landon is giving his teacher, Mrs. Owens, a great big good-bye hug. She was wonderful with Landon. Landon is a lot shy. She just worked with him and allowed him to be Landon; but encouraged him to come out of his shell. God surly blessed us with such a wonderful teacher.

Fun In the Sun

You can tell summer is just around the corner when the water toys come out. After a long day of moving things to my mom's new house; the kids chill out by breaking out the slip-n-slide. Of course, no afternoon would be complete without a push-up ice cream. I love watching these kiddos enjoying the simple fun of playing outside. The day was made more fun by enjoying it with cousin Tyson.
